Mr Runaway.
here's a story i must write down for the memory books.
our small group went to visit the local pumpkin farm saturday night & let's just say it was an experience neither jeff nor i will forget for a long time. it all started out perfect, crowded but we were out as a family, enjoying one of my favorite fall traditions.
andrew even stopped and said "cheese" every now and then.
we enjoyed our time on the hayride, stopping to feed the cows & donkeys.
and after the hayride--all went south. andrew found these riding tractors that he fell in LOVE with. all he wanted to do was ride. the problem was there was TONS of kids there who wanted to do the same. he was also too small to ride so it took one of us to push him. jeff & I decided it was time to join up with our friends. we picked him up & he was not happy. "tractor, Tractor, TRACTOR!" sadie and the other kids were playing on the slide--andrew started to head to the slide. I walked the other way around to keep an eye on him as he walked up the steps. he was no where to be found.
"Jeff, he's gone."
"what do you mean he's gone?"
"he's not on the slide"
all the while i am fratically scanning the crowd for his orange shirt & blue plaid shorts. (for the record, he will NEVER wear orange again to the pumpkin patch--because everyone wears ORANGE!)
jeff & our cop friend Danny went into search mode with me.
just at that moment a peace washed over me like never before, "check the tractors."
Jeff & Danny were one step ahead of me and Jeff was already dealing with Mr. Runaway.
so grateful that in a CROWD full of people our child was unharmed, standing by the tractor bin telling everyone around him "I'm want to ride next."
like i said before, it will be a night neither jeff nor i will ever forget
